2020, A Year In My Life

Most times, we do not appreciate what we have till we lose it. 2019 gave us freedom, 2020 brought physical confinement. 2020 was a year that taught us to be grateful for the things we see as little and take for granted - being alive, free and healthy.

There's a lot to be thankful for in the year of the new normal. I actualized 90% of my goals for the year.

Relationship ‍

I spent most of my time indoors. Albeit, I met wonderful people online. In 2020, I established a closer online contact with my acquaintances. If statistics were to be taken, 2020 would be the year I spent the most number of hours on social platforms. I also spent the most time with my family since leaving home in 2016 in search of greener pastures. I can't substitute the memories shared within those months for anything in the world. I also maintained my relationship with my God.

Career

Despite peple losing their jobs in 2020, I switched jobs for a better place. I had to study lines of codes across a lot of applications written by others. It was tough at first but the atmosphere at the workplace helped me fit in quickly.

Writing

I improved and explored more writing options as planned. Since I began writing, 2020 was my first year of being paid for my article. I published a guest article on LogRocket. I would dedicate more time to guest articles this year as one way to diversify my source of income.

Poetry

Poetry is one of the ways through which I express my thoughts. I published 10 musings in the form of poems and spoken words.

New Language

I started learning French on Duolingo in addition to German that I was previously learning. I hit 184 day streak. I haven't been this consistent. Feel free to add me, let's hit the target.

Fitness

I enrolled into Nike Training Club, became consistent, and completed 53 workouts. It's not a means of losing weight but just to tone muscles, stay fit and flexible.

What's Next?

Life is full of uncertainties and I've learnt to embrace growth over goal mindset. All I wish for in 2021 is to be consistent, remain in God's will and put a smile on the faces of people around me.

Cheers to the new year 🥂
